Trout Stocking Schedules, State by State
Every state stocks trout on its own calendar, and every agency publishes its schedule its own way. Of the 49 states here, 26 publish a list page, 13 a searchable schedule, 6 a PDF and 4 a map. Each state's page takes its agency at its word, sentence by sentence: when it stocks through the year, where the schedule lives and how to read it, and the rules that come with stocked water. District of Columbia and Florida stock no trout; each is listed in its region with the reason, in its agency's words.
The bars show the months each state's programs usually run. Open a state for this year's dates.

The District has no trout stocking. The Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) manages the fish of the Potomac and Anacostia rivers and their tributaries, Rock Creek among them, and its work there is water quality: the Potomac's recovery has brought back bass, crappie and yellow perch.
The District's own fish is the American shad, which migrates into its waters every year to spawn.

Florida: no trout stocking
Florida has no trout stocking. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) runs two freshwater hatcheries for the whole state, and they stock largemouth, striped and sunshine bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, channel catfish and black crappie.
The water is too warm for trout. Louisiana, also on the Gulf, stocks them only in winter because they will not survive its spring and summer water, and FWC says even striped bass do not tolerate water over 75°F for long and have to find cool water to survive a Florida summer.
Florida's trout is the spotted seatrout, also called speckled trout: a native saltwater fish of the drum family, not a trout at all.
From FWC: Florida Freshwater Fish Hatcheries, FWC: Striped Bass, FWC: Spotted Seatrout (drums) and Louisiana LDWF: Rainbow Trout Stocked at Community Ponds Statewide (January 21, 2020).

A stocking schedule says where the fish went in. Which day to go is a different question: the forecast scores each day of the week for trout at the water you pick, from its water temperature, the wind and the weather.
